History of PTK at Dakota College
In 2009, Dakota College at Bottineau, a member of the North Dakota University System, received approval to reinstate the local chapter as Beta Rho Eta.
At DCB induction into this society continues a tradition of excellence that distinguishes student performance within our campus community. This high distinction is one we hope students carry as a mark of their commitment to bettering the campus community, improved academic performance and acts of service and leadership.
With over a 100 years of history PTK has established within its members a sense of honor, leadership, and academic success. Upon entry into PTK, students must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA, while having taken 12 credit hours of coursework. After entry, the students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA throughout their time at the institution. With nearly 1,300 chapters worldwide, more than 120,000 students inducted annually, and over 3.5 million students inducted since 1918, PTK is the official honor society of community colleges by the American Association of Community Colleges. It is because of this society that students can transfer to universities, many within North Dakota, and receive exclusive PTK transfer scholarships.
Why are donations necessary?
The PTK group would like to help students attend conferences, conventions and award ceremonies while students are attending at DCB. This experience for most students is their first time working on a extracurricular activity that can forward move their academic career.
